Bernard Kawinzi confirms departure from Posta Rangers
Bernard Kawinzi has confirmed his departure from Posta Rangers following a poor run in the FKF Premier League. The coach, who took charge in April 2024, leaves the club languishing at the bottom of the table with just 11 points from 14 matches. Kawinzi says stepping down is the best decision for the team as they fight to avoid relegation.
Posta Rangers head coach Bernard Kawinzi has confirmed his departure from the club following a disappointing run in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) this season. Speaking to The Eastleigh Voice, Kawinzi revealed that stepping down was the best decision for the team, despite still being under contract.
“It is sort of true I have parted ways with the club, though I’m still on contract. I think that’s the best decision for the club,” Kawinzi said.

Kawinzi took over as Posta Rangers head coach in April 2024, replacing John Kamau, who had been sent on leave due to poor results. However, under Kawinzi’s tenure, the team has struggled, sitting at the bottom of the FKFPL table in 18th place with just 11 points after 14 matches.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Kawinzi refrained from assigning blame, noting that the club’s struggles required action.
“I can’t pinpoint exactly what led to the poor performance, but when a team is in the relegation zone, something must be done. I believe my decision to leave is the right one for now,” he added.
Despite his departure, Kawinzi remains optimistic about his future in football, hinting at a return after a short break.
“I’m not done with football yet. Maybe I’ll take some time off and see what’s next, but I’m sure I’ll be back,” he said.
Posta Rangers will now turn their focus to their next match against Sofapaka in Matchweek 15 as they look to salvage their season.
